How does it work?
Our approach is inspired by the fundamental principles of writing motivation from the Writing For Pleasure Centre
Throughout the year, the parent receives suggestions for writing activities inspired by the seasons, holidays, and school breaks. They introduce each activity to their child.
When the child logs into Troubadour, they see the activity. They can then create an interactive story. The parent may do the same!
The child can share their creations with their friends and, of course, with you!
The Internet can be scary. Fortunately, our sharing is safe, and you control exactly who sees what.
Inspired by the themed settings, the child gives free rein to their imagination. They discover the joy of writing on their own, driven by their own desire to create. This is what we call intrinsic motivation!
Over time, the child develops positive feelings towards writing. Whether it becomes a passion or simply a hobby, the love for writing will remain a valuable asset throughout their life.

Preventing the holiday slide
The "holiday slide" is the loss, over the break, of what children learned during the school year.
Use the holidays to let your child write freely. It lets them explore writing in a different way than they do at school.
The importance of being a role model
If we tell children that reading and writing are enjoyable without doing it ourselves, they'll quickly spot the hypocrisy. ;)
Writing stories in Troubadour can be fun even for adults. If you find the time, we encourage you to participate alongside your child. Kids LOVE spending quality time with their parents.
